Yoga Chat

Aloha, my lovelies!

I’d like to start some chat about one of my favorite obsessions today, Yoga! I adore Yoga, the dynamic differences in the poses and sequences, additional flavors to routine like focusing on breath, or Pranayama, and especially the infinite possibilities possible with creating my very own unique routine. There is so much freedom in being able to create my own sequence, adding in some light weight curls to Yoga stretches for a slightly more cardio workout, or even just plopping right down after stretches and a couple of easy Warrior Pose I movements and Side Triangles to start meditating and basically just stay seated focusing on my breath and maybe doing some shoulder rolls for the rest of the workout. So many options and so much room to play!

I would love to see some comments from my awesome readers on this yoga chat, maybe some ideas on fun and interesting yoga poses themselves! What do you guys think? Do you have a sweet and fun Yoga routine of your own, or a favorite set of poses you do every time? Are you more of an adventurous Yogi with your sequence, or do you like routine and just do it the same way every time? I like mixing it up every once in awhile, but the old-fashioned way can be really rewarding, too. Nothing wrong with keeping the yoga mat indoors and doing the same poses, but then again, a little adventure in a yoga practice can be even more fun!

So which are you? Are you zen, tried and true and always relaxing? Are you a Yoga Chanter and always have to chant a mantra when you’re breathing or in a pose? Or are you like me, quite the hot Yogi mess but at least you’re always giving it your best shot and trying new things and new ways of looking at the world?

Aloha, my lovelies, Light and Shade until we meet again!

  1. Hello! I’m visiting you via your post on community pool! Just wanted to leave some feedback per your request πŸ™‚

I like that this post is requesting a lot of engagement from the readers. Whenever I read a blog post that speaks directly to me and asks me questions, I always answer them in my head, and then feel more inclined to comment when I’m through. The only real critique I have as far as style goes is this: In your first paragraph, you have one really long sentence that starts with “There is so much freedom…” and goes all the way to the end of the paragraph. My suggestion would be to break up really long thoughts like that to create more readability πŸ™‚

I love to practice yoga as well, and I really enjoy catering my practice to my mood. If I feel like I need energy, I do a backbend focused sequence. If I’m feeling anxious, I might do more forward folds. Stuff like that πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing your love of yoga! I always love coming across other bloggers who have a strong appreciation for the practice πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you, hun! Thank you for your sweet words, they are very much appreciated. And really helpful, actually, especially the portion about breaking up long thoughts. Maybe longer thoughts more in the middle then at the end, right? πŸ™‚

I think the shorter, conversational style of writing is more for blogging, anyway. I’m more used to writing web content, I guess, then blog posts. I will still take your advice to heart and try to watch that as I write.

Also, I wanted to be sure to thank you for the first comment about reader engagement. I do the same thing when I read others’ posts, feeling involved or not depending on their tone and any requests for engagement, answers, or feedback. It makes me feel more valued, like my opinion does mean something. As I think it does for pretty much everyone.

Yeah, Yoga is wonderful. I like to think I don’t so much “love yoga” as I try to “live yoga”, although I sure am obsessed with the poses and getting flexible again! πŸ™‚ And breathing. I am constantly telling my boyfriend to “remember to breathe”. πŸ™‚ I do need more reminding, myself, though.

Thank you again and many alohas to you and yours!

  2. Hey😊
Visited your blog for the first time.
    Loved the layout!
Although I am not very much a yoga person, but yeah I had tried it too. It felt so soothing. I almost felt to spend all of my time practicing it. However, I couldn’t go far😞 and Sleep won the battle again!πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ
I hope your article will keep inspiring me to start over.

  3. Nice to read your post. I do follow my yoga routine every morning. I commence the session with an opening mantra, followed by pranayama (breathing exercises), then 5 sets of Sun Salutation, Ashtanga Sun Salutation A & B (5 rounds each), head stand practice (that being my favourite), closing mantra, and then Shavasana. 😊
